I did it...

... I posted everyday this week on the blog! My oh my, it's been a while since I've done that. I guess I could blame it on being pregnant, or being busy or just being tired, but I think the real reason is I just haven't had much to say. Ok, scratch that, I haven't had much to say that isn't 100% baby related. My little beast has not only taken up residence in my tummy, but also in my brain. All day long it's like there's a background tune playing in my head and it goes a little something like this, "baby, baby, baby, baby, baaaaaby!" and so on. Poor Papa Chuck can only take so much, and I don't want to make the English Muffin blog all baby-fied for those of you could honestly care less - I get it, trust me.

Which brings me to my question. Do I start (yet another) baby blog? On one hand I say yes, it would be a great place to let all these baby thoughts/questions/feeling loose. I could connect with other people who are experiencing the same thing or have been there before, and build a little mommy community like I feel I've done with so many designers and creatives who have become good friends through this blog. On the other hand, I feel like such a cliché. That's really the only downside ;)

What do you think, friends? Any thoughts?

Have a wonderful Friday, and last weekend of the summer!!
xx Bess

ps. That's me earlier this week, 20 weeks

  1. Woo for blogging every day! Want to send some of that juju my way? ;) I have no experience in the new-mama domain, but managing another blog just sounds like more work. Perhaps you could integrate the baby talk here, and just categorize it and choose a day (or two) every week that you blog about baby? It's a tough call but you really should start culturing an allergy to anything that screams "more work" :) Although, connecting with other new mamas is really valuable and rewarding, and helps so much! And there is so much to talk about! So basically I'm not helping here, at all. SIGH!! Whatever you decide is cool with me, I'll follow any blog you write!! p.s. you are beautiful xoxo

  2. I like Anile's idea, about assigning one day or two to baby-talk!

I always say this to people who ask me if they should open a second Etsy shop: why duplicate all your promoting time? I guess it's the same for blog... Why duplicate the efforts? :)

  3. Meh, don't start another blog. You are you - artist, designer, illustrator, soon-to-be-mother - and this is your blog. You can (and should) write whatever you want on it, it's a reflection of you - and all your roles!

  4. I think that cliches are there for a reason! It would be fun...but I also agree with Anile that it would be work. :) I think a day or two a week to focus on the baby would be lovely. You're changing who you are as a person, and (hopefully) your readers and customers want to know you for all of you. You don't want to leave out an important part of your life if that's where your energies are! I don't have kids and am not sure that I will, but I still enjoy reading about new babies and all things related. :)

  5. I for one would read another blog of yours, for sure! I have two blogs (one baby related), but mine is more business related. I look forward to the day it becomes about a baby...more specifically, MY baby. :)

  6. look at you! so gorgeous!!! how do you keep your hair like that when you're pregnant??? mine looks atrocious!!!
i agree - what we do is assign certain days to certain topics. for us Type A personalities it works well and then people will/won't check in on those days. good luck!!!

  7. First of all, CONGRATS, Bess!! I missed the original announcement post, but I am soooo excited for you!!! I noticed many of your pins on pinterest were baby themed so I wondered ;) Haha, or maybe I just noticed cause I'm pregnant and have baby on the brain alll the time too. I totally know how you feel.

Of course, I'm happy if you post baby stuff! This is YOUR blog and a reflection of you, so post whatever makes you happy, girl.

SO excited for you, congrats again!!

  8. Cute bump!

My honest opinion? Start a new blog if you want to purely focus on all things baby. I can tell you that there are 2 types of readers out there, those you want to see & hear about babies and those who don't. If you want to gush about what you're experiencing, do so to an audience that wants to share in it. Cliche as it may be, it makes sense for what you want to achieve.

  10. Congrats! You should do what feels right to you! A new baby blog would be great, but I also like how Joanna at Cup of Jo choosed one day in the week to talk about babies and motherhood (Motherhood Mondays). During that day, she posts as many baby-related posts as she wants.

  11. I say keep one blog. I agree with Audrey regarding Joanna from Cup of Jo.

  12. I started a new blog because I wanted to focus each of my blogs on specific topics, I also wanted to give our journey into parenthood its own voice so we have something to look back on in years to come. Our child will be able to see its development and watch our story as parents unfold. A bit like a pregnancy journey. Im quite sure our baby won't be too interested in reading about cushions I've made etc. I don't see why your news can't cross over into your existing blog, even if you do set up a new one.

I love the idea of building a mommy community though.

Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy ride! :)

  13. Looking gorgeous at 20 weeks!

I think the only downfall of starting another blog, is having the energy to maintain both. I'm on the same page as you right now (wink wink shhh) so I'm not bothered by the baby talk.
