New iPad Background

I popped my Happy Spring illustration from yesterday onto my iPad last night and thought it looked pretty good as a background. So, I've made it available as a download should anyone else want a Happy Spring background from English Muffin. It would probably work on iPhones too, or any other device for that matter.

HAPPY SPRING!

We did it! We survived this long, cold winter. Even Edwin is over all the snow and cold, it's been like wrestling a full-grown tiger trying to get him dressed in his snowsuit for the last few weeks.

Cabane à sucre | Sugar Shack

On Friday Big Chuck, Tyke and I went to our very first traditional Québecois sugar shack. I remember going out into the forest in the early Spring with my classmates in elementary school, but there seems to be a very unique Cabane à Sucre culture here in Quebec.

We were invited, along with the rest of Big Chuck's lab to his professor's cabin about an hour outside of Montreal. Everyone brought a little something for a pot luck lunch and we collect sap from the sugar maple trees. For dessert we were treated to french toast with maple syrup and then maple syrup on snow too. YUM!

It was really nice to experience an authentic Cabane à Sucre Québecoise, now I'm eagerly awaiting the locally produced jar of maple syrup we were promised!

Spring is in the air, can you feel it? Of course you can! Yesterday I heard birds chirping and it was warm and sunny and +6 degrees, ahhhhhh... We have fresh flowers in the living room and they make the whole apartment smell wonderful. Hurray Spring, it's so nice to see you again.
