SOLO-PARENTING

Every now and then Charles has to travel for work. Currently he's in Minnesota for a big ecological conference, and has been gone for 6 days and 6 nights... but who's counting? He'll be back shortly though and Eddie and I can't wait. It's times like these when I think about all of the parents out there who are doing the world's hardest job alone. HOW DO YOU DO IT?! Seriously, how? I am exhausted by the time bath time rolls around and my arms can barely lift Eddie into his crib at the end of the day—thank god for the 3 days a week of daycare! Enough of my complaining though, this post is really to send out a big high five and some serious amazement to all of you moms and dads who do this on your own, you're incredible!

Happy Thursday (1 day left!!)
xx Bess

  1. I hear ya...when mr. fleurishing goes out of town and I have the twins...EXHAUSTION is an understatement. I don't know how single parents do it.

    Hang in there!

  2. I feel the exact same way when my husband goes to Nashville for his songwriting. You have to get really organized, wake up early for the daycare run, try to get all your work done (I'm a freelancer) during daycare time, then go pick him up, make a wholesome dinner for both of you, bath, bedtime (or struggle to bedtime) then after the little tyke is in bed, dishes and clean-up so the next day runs smoothly. I normally work in the night after my men have gone to sleep but when the husband is away, I have to go to sleep early. So I fell behind in my work. Thank-for for posting this... I felt the same way about a month ago. It's hard. PS: I am so proud to have found such a talented local artist with an amazing blog! Would love to buy a print from you locally soon, just trying to decide which one.

  3. I think about this ALL the time when I'm alone with Zac. My husband has been away this week as well, and BOY is it ever exhausting. It's the little things, like getting groceries and cooking meals that are incredibly challenging when you're alone.
Single moms (and single dads) should get a free pass at life, in my opinion!
