Canadiana Tuesday: Round-up

For those of you who didn't know, we in Canada have been suffering through a Canada Post lock-out for almost two weeks! But, the good news is that the mail has slowly begun to move again (yipee!), and to celebrate I thought I would feature some of my favourite Canadian online shops.

In going back through the 2+ years of Canadiana Tuesday posts, it wasn't hard to find some stellar pieces that I was eager to share again. Of course, in addition to these, there are many more wonderful shops that I've had the opportunity to feature, and you can see them all here.

Here are nine lovely Canadian pieces that I hope will be making their way through the post to loving new homes again soon!

1. Flying Geese Pillow Cover by Toronto print designer Nicole Tarasick
3. Plumee / Flechee Earring 7 by Montreal jewelry designer Noemiah
4. MacBook Wool Felt Sleeve by Montreal designer C Comme Ça
5. Herrna Scarf in Mauve from Toronto based shop Coterie
6. Topo Necklace 3 by Montreal jewelry designer Neawear
7. Mid Century Side Table from Ontario-based vintage shop Hindsvik
8. Flag Stand from Father-Daughter design duo Herriott Grace

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Little T

I mean, honestly, how could you do anything but adore this baby?!

My niece, Tiombe, and her mom are visiting Big Chuck and I this week. So that means no work (well, very little) and lots of play!

Have a great rest of your week and weekend!

Perfect Pairs

1. Bitter 2. Red Bear Paw Tote
Even though my own Etsy shop is closed due to this Canada Post strike, that didn't stop me from sifting through my Etsy favourites to find some Perfect Pairs for today. How delicious are those Bitter coasters? And the Snug Hippo breadboard - I think I need one!

Here are my perfect pairs for the week:

summer sunshine + cat naps
summer sunshine + flip flops
summer sunshine + lemonade

Can you tell I'm really loving this summer weather we're finally having?!

Have a great Thursday!

Canadiana: Busy Bee Candle Co.

Just in time for the season of outdoor patio lighting, Pure Green Mag photographer Erin Monett, has launched a new venture, Busy Bee Candle Co. Erin's bee-friendly beeswax candles are molded in vintage mason jars using natural unmodified beeswax from local area bees. Beeswax is a renewable resource and burns clean, it is also a great product for those who are sensitive to scents.

Visit the Busy Bee Candle Co. Etsy shop to see more of Erin's beeswax offerings. And, to see more of Erin's photography "pick up" the latest issue of Pure Green Mag.

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

PS. Have you read the Eco-Logical article that Big Chuck and I teamed up on on the decline of bees for Issue 5 of Pure Green Mag? If not check out pages 102-103.

Music Monday: Kleerup ft. Lykke Li

I haven't done a Music Monday post in a while, so when I heard this track by Kleerup featuring Lykke Li posted by Nea on facebook yesterday, I thought it was the perfect musical offering to share with you this morning.

I'm hoping to get this week off to a good start and cross off some major to do's on my English Muffin list. Sometimes I find the hardest things to complete are the ones where I'm accountable only to myself. I bend over backwards to get stuff turned around quickly for other people, but when it comes to my own work sometimes a cat nap on my desk sounds a little more appealing. (Not that I don't LOVE what I do - it's just tricky to be your own boss sometimes).

Here's to a super productive week!

Happy Monday :)

Canadiana: Faux Fauna

I had a great time at Puces Pop over the weekend, I even got to meet a few blog readers! I'm always so amazed that people are actually reading ;)

Puces Pop is a great place to scout new Canadiana Tuesday talent. Since I couldn't abandon my table for too long to check out all the booths at the show, I focused on those around me, and I didn't have to look too far. Across the room from me on the opposite wall was Felt Factory and their Faux Fauna line. Think taxidermy made from felt - genius, I know!

The artist behind the Faux Fauna creations, Sabine Alpers, came to Canada from Germany in 2003 and currently lives in Montreal. During the winter months, Sabine felts her cute and friendly taxidermy pieces and in the summer tends to her farm. All the wool she uses to make her creations comes from last season's wool harvest on the farm. Animal friendly wool taxidermy is definitely something I could get into!

Have a great Tuesday!
